After putting on a talis gadol one should do an atifa – עטיפה.  There are different minhagim how to do it, and one should follow their family minhag. There are some poskim that say to do an atifa with a tallis katan as well, but the general minhag is not to. One should find out if they have a family minhag about this as well.
