It is forbidden to utter the name of Hashem in any language (e.g. G-D) for no reason. Therefore, one must pay attention to never recite a brachah without a reason, because even though one is praising Hashem with this brachah it is still forbidden. However, one is permitted to say G—D in a context of intended praise, therefore one is permitted to formulate their own short tefillah with Hashem’s name, to say every day.
